How to choose an online English course for your child: 8 questions before you pay

There are many options and the ads all look alike. These eight questions help you compare calmly and choose what really fits your child.

1. Is there a real teacher and live classes?

Apps alone are good for practice, but a child needs someone who listens, corrects pronunciation and encourages them. Ask: is the class live with a teacher, or recorded videos only?

2. How many children are in a class?

The smaller the group, the more your child gets to speak. A group of 3 or 4 children at the same level gives each child real time and stays fun.

3. Does the course fit my child's age and level?

A five-year-old doesn't learn like a twelve-year-old. Ask: are there clear levels for each age? Is there a placement test before starting?

4. Is there Arabic support?

English-only explanations can confuse a beginner. The Arabic meaning alongside words and instructions helps a child understand quickly without feeling lost, without turning the lesson into translation.

5. What happens between classes?

One or two classes a week are not enough on their own. Look for preparation before class, homework after it, and short practice that can be done at home.

6. How will I follow my child's progress?

You have a right to know what your child learned this week. Ask: does the teacher write a note after each class? Is there a page showing attendance and homework? Is there a test and certificate at the end of each level?

7. Is the schedule flexible?

With school and activities, flexibility matters: choosing days and times, cancelling a reasonable time before class, and a clear time zone for bookings.

8. Can we try it for free?

A trial class shows a lot: did your child enjoy it? Did they speak? Did they understand? Don't pay before you see for yourself.
